a great new addition to the material, provided in a two-minute video to accompany the song's release in 1999. no video exists for the original version of the song, but the new one is even better in a short one-take format. it provides a flashback of the band recording the song at headley grange in 1999, with liam setting his sights on emulating the beach boys, in particular the buzzards' track: from here, where i stand, you can see for miles and hear the waves, and sometimes i think i'm back on the beach and sometimes i think i'm out in space
oasis's first orchestrated single, released in may 1999. it was recorded at studio f in may 1999 and was released in september of that year. it's probably best known for the use of: noel gallagher's "i ain't bothered if i win/i ain't bothered if i lose," a phrase that became a huge part of oasis's live show. however, it's also the closest thing they got to a dance track - but that's not a bad thing. it had a video made for it, which premiered on top of the pops in 1999. it was then released as a single to mark the band's "europalooza '99" festival and gained airplay.
this is a great example of what an early oasis album would have sounded like - it's the earliest song written on the blueprint for don't believe the truth. the lyrics are typically oasis: "i got a cabin in the mountains, i can lock myself away/ you know i don't really want to be known, i can't be bothered with fame" and liam is typically oasis: "i can be very shy sometimes i can move very slowly/i can't be bothered with people saying/ i'm alright, i'm fine, you're alright, you're fine, you're alright." 42d8ba546e1
