Nekopara Vol. 1 Steam 18 Patch Generator
in the beginning, nekopara is easy to get into, and the first couple of scenes are somewhat interesting. after that, there are a few more scenes that just slow the pace down, and by the time youre in the final act the game starts to drag, and the pace slows down to a crawl. the story is a bit of an incoherent mess, and the plot is essentially a quest for the protagonist to have sex with maria, which then leads to the rest of the cat girls appearing. the plot is so poorly written that the few times it does pick up youre rarely sure what the point is, and it just fizzles out.
however, while the characters are cute, what nekopara focuses on is not how cute they are, but how the relationships they develop with you are built around what the characters are. the central relationships in nekopara are among the protagonist and the two catgirls, and between the catgirls and the people that you meet on your travels. these relationships are built around the characters, not their appearance, and theres no way of knowing how youll be feeling toward a character until you interact with them. in this way, the visual novel doesnt really have a traditional storyline; the central relationships are more like the plot of a piece of interactive literature. this is actually not a bad thing, as the player gets to shape the story as they go along.
over the course of your travels, youll meet a variety of different people. some of them will be your friends, but others might be your enemies. all of them are interesting, and how you react to them, as well as what actions you take on your journey, will have an impact on how the story plays out. and this is really what makes nekopara such a unique game. its like a choose your own adventure book, except with actual cats. d8a7b2ff72
the seiyuu for the protagonist, wataru kurenai, is one of the more popular seiyuu in japan, and given the character is a middle-aged (and middle-class) married man, hes not the most interesting character to begin with. but he can be a bit irritating at times, and that reinforces the tone that the story sets up, which is that hes being manipulated by the cat girls. in fact, if you look at the back of the box, youll find that nekopara is a parody of the genre. it has a scene where the protagonist is being chased by an old woman in a cat girl costume, but he accidentally ends up getting chased by a frog instead.
the story is fairly lengthy, but not excessively so. the biggest issue is that you get a few sidequests, some of which are amusing but most of which are not, and theres no real way of choosing which ones you want to do. the world of nekopara is small enough that if you leave the cat girls at home, you could probably go for most of the sidequests without missing anything, but i found myself struggling to get past the small handful of sidequests i did. the game has a bit of an unfinished feel to it, which is to be expected for a visual novel. there are a lot of scenes where nothing happens (you just sit around and wait for something to happen) but there are also a fair few cutscenes with some interesting and well-written dialogue. the visual novel series that nekopara came from, nekopara: the official guidebook vol. 2, is a series of guides to the various characters, and as such is fairly light on the plot.
the dialogue is fairly flat, but there are some amusing bits. there are several different types of cutscenes, including some that you can skip; there are various musical interludes that are used to advance the plot, and the game has some cute and funny little scenes. some of the visual novel games can be very heavy on the metaphor (which, admittedly, is not a bad thing), and nekopara is no exception. the story starts out by describing a few key events in the life of the protagonist, and then builds up to the point where youre being presented with the choice of whether to accept a job in the office, which involves mentoring a young girl who is interested in becoming a nurse, or trying to sleep with the beautiful and mysterious maria. the choice is made for you, and the game returns you to the start for the next scene, and you have to decide if you want to try and sleep with her.
