Released firmware 3.52 in November of 2009, updated to firmware 3.81 in April of 2010, and released firmware 4.02 in August of 2010, the same firmware that was first released for the PlayStation Portable on February 19, and NGP the same day. The firmware 4.02 in this article is the version described and advertised on the UMD Bundle CD as version 8.00.060.000. This firmware is for the PPSSPP, however, the latest version of that compiler is 8.00.052.060. It is a bug, as some people claim, that the ROM file is corrupted if the hardware has not been updated to firmware version 3.51 or higher. This firmware is also capable of running both PSP and PSP-1000 UMDs.
A variety of hardware related changes were made starting with firmware "PNP" (4.90) 4.70. The firmware was accompanied by "MK2" (4.70.0). Firmware "MK2" was released along with firmware 2.40 (which was released alongside firmware 2.30 with the release of firmware 2.80 in May of 2007), and rapid updates of firmware are also available. The firmware levels 4.40 to 6.41.03 were released on 28 November 2010 and 10 December 2010 respectively. Firmware 6.42.00 was released on 2 January 2011, and a few rapid updates of that FW version have since been released.
The 860, released on January 22, 2011, is the latest version of the handheld. 80Mbit/s and 40Mbit/s 3G / 4G connectivity can be combined using the included 3G/4G modem.[52][53] Slightly altered walkman and expansion modules are located in the diagonal of the new flat unit, this time terminating the memory expansion port. Unlike the original PSP, it features a center-mounted power button on the left side, and a new hybrid analog/ TV-out port on the back.
The largest version of the firmware is the 4.20 version.[48] This firmware release is the first firmware released for the handheld that supports the hardware of the PlayStation Portable 3000. Also from this day on, the screen brightness of the handheld can be controlled by a new option on the menu; the brightness is controlled by a slider located near the volume controller on the right, also allowing the user to change the color of the icons on the home screen. PlayStation Portable 3000 made japanese version called PSPgo, the pro model PSPgo also supports japanese GL(OCR) technology, all the games and contents inside PSPgo can be read by a OCR oriented function of JVC and Sony that called Soprano. Other firmware releases from there are firmware 4.05, firmware 4.10, the last version of firmware 4.10 is firmware4.10.10, finally to firmware 4.20 the firmware numbers were changed in firmware 4.22 which is almost the same version of firmware 4.20. The major changes are: the first release of firmware 4.22 is 4.22.00.00. The PAL and Europe version is 4.22.01.00.04a. DS version is 4.22.03.00. ed3faa56471
