the windows rt version 10.0.14393.0 of the os has no good way to work with non-windows (desktop) java applications. to enable desktop apps to work with windows rt, you can use a separate process with an api, which is the one used to start desktop apps - process::startpath (open the directory to look for the appx package). this process is started by java, so you don't need to do anything. this is completely invisible to java as this process is started by the windows runtime. the name of the process is the first part of the windows namespace . it can be accessed as c# via the windowsruntime::process class. the package name is windows.data and it is called appx.executable or appx.exe. in version 10, it is renamed to windows.data.appx. see the blog post .
a couple of sites have mentioned that the operating system cannot boot up in the virtual machine vm>320k, so its not possible to run processes inside or above the boot partition. but this was a separate machine (macbook pro, retina, os x 10.11 el capitan). the os disc contains 2048mib of data and they run out of space on the disk. see the blog post .
you can modify your example application to also support a scenario where for any given instance of the application, the xcode bundle id (cfbundleidentifier) is set to one of the three values in the supporteddatakeys. see the blog post . as a side effect, your appcruncher logic is also exposed to this target; simply change the cfbundleid string and the app will be recompiled. note that you can't release this 'universal' appcruncher without recompiling, so your application update workflow will need to be adjusted accordingly. the application determines the bundle id by parsing the info.plist file. d8a7b2ff72
