The whole [Burning for Buddy] thing really worked for me because I was just coming off being a solo artist and that experience opened doors for me. I didnt just say, “Let me play drums.” There was a part of me that thought, “Well, I know I play drums but I also know I cant really carry a band on my back.” And I was terrified. Ever since then, that is what I remember about him as a teacher, a good friend. I did not always agree with his directions, but I knew he cared about you and he had great ideas.
