After a series of closed doors ended up in violation of the Counter-Strike Agreement, Hidden Path Entertainment and Valve split ways and new Counter-Strike Team formed and named a new name Counter-Strike studio and also renamed the VAC ban system to Opfor in November of 2002. The game was then published as Counter-Strike: Source under the new Counter-Strike name.
Counter-Strike: Source was originally a standalone retail software product released for PC in 2003. Retail copies were later bundled with the game's official expansion pack, Aftermath. It sold 1.1 million copies, an average of 18,000 per week, by the end of June 2004. A source port of the game (for Linux and OS/2) was released on December 4, 2004, and a demo was soon released.
