simatic plcsim is an impressive application that allows users to execute and test their programming on a software-based simulator either than on some logic controller board. it saves resource, time and allows to organize the developing process. it allows to simultaneously simulate several operations of the automation system with different sets of the controller. you can also download siemens simatic step 7 pro & wincc professional 15.1.
plcsim v5 allows the simulation of up to 2 plcs. to begin, the user must download the plcsim v5 from the simatic website and install it. when the plcsim v5 application has been installed, the program is started and, when asked for a connection to the plc simulator, it is needed to connect to the local network ip address and, of course, to the plc simulator ip address.
the program logic is in the application and the configuration is in the hardware. using plcsim advanced as a controller, you can test and debug your application logic on a real plc controller. this is very convenient, because you do not need to create a virtual controller first. the simulated controller is running on your pc, and you can simulate your program logic on this controller. d8a7b2ff72
the help file for plcsim advanced - v5.4 + sp2states in the section features, that h systems are not supported (figure 2). this is not entirely true, this is my situation. h systems are supported, but at least in my case, plcsim does not show the h elements as independent objects (figure 3). instead you have to read the log files generated by plcsim and you won't find them neatly integrated as an element in the simulation. note that the blog article on the official plcsim website also says the following about h systems:
with s7-plcsim v5.4 + sp5 + upd1 the tab "simulate" in netpro is not available anymore. the old functionality has been replaced by a new tab "simulate plcsim advanced" (figure 4). with s7-plcsim v5.4 + sp5 + upd2 it's the other way round, the old functionality is replaced by a new tab "simulate plcsim basic". both programs are for free in the official download page .
when you activate the tab "simulate" (figure 4) and start a simulation it appears in the rhs - hmi overview in the same manner as it does when the old "simulate" was activated (figure 5). the problem is that it's not selectable! i tried every combination of simulate plcsim advanced and simulate plcsim basic to find the right combination. only when selecting "simulate plcsim basic" and starting a simulation the "simulate plcsim advanced" tab is then available in the rhs - hmi overview and you can start a simulation as you did before.
as mentioned before, the latest versions of s7-plcsim and plcsim advanced do not support h systems. the updated help file from the official website does not only say that h elements are not supported, but also states that they are still working for single controller simulations. unfortunately, this is not the case. it still works for the simulation of just a single controller, but when you have multiple controllers there appear to be some problems to be expected.
