saibaba was born on 17 march 18 adhik maamuni in a village called walas, near shirdi. according to the tradition, his parents were haribhau bhusari and susheela. although all the accounts of saibaba's life prior to 18 adhik maamuni, save for the final four years, are undisputed, the final four years of his life remain shrouded in mystery. the accounts of his early life vary greatly, with some making his birth around 1801 and others after 1802. it is clear that he claimed to be more than 30 years old and a saint when he met his first disciple, balaji maharaj, in 1827. most accounts agree that baba left shirdi, where he was staying with the dhruva brahmachari, and went to live in the village of narsapur, where he remained for some time, observing the customs of islam. around the time of his visit to narsapur, he changed his name from haribhau bhusari to saibaba. he returned to shirdi in 1828, where he was living in a stone cottage at walas, near the panch pandava temple. here he met sri tukaram, a disciple of sri ramakrishna. he joined sri tukaram's group, which was being led by sri tukaram's son, and they used to sing the songs of sri tukaram and sri ramakrishna. in 1829, baba started spending more and more time at pandurang pundlik's house, eventually moving in with him in 1835. he learned the art of singing and composition from pandurang and lived with him for seven years. in 1836, he moved to a house in shirdi called shivaji park, where he met a girl by the name of devaki and learned the art of pancha pandava, the greatest saints of the hindu faith, from her. he met his second disciple, shirdi baba, and started living and studying in a small hut. during this period he changed his name from saibaba to "sai baba" (essentially "servant of sai"). baba went on to live in this hut, as he did in another hut as well, the entire time he was in shirdi. he stayed in this hut, the famous "santacruz" hut, for almost 12 years, until he was asked by a young brahmin devotee named ramalinga iyer, the then chief minister of mysore state, to leave shirdi and come to mysore state. when baba had been living in the santacruz hut for some time, sri tukaram had visited shirdi and asked baba to shift to the "santacruz" hut. at this time, baba was asked to give his final instructions to his disciples. he responded that he had no wish to give any instructions and left shirdi. he went to live in the village of dharmastala, where he continued his discipleship. baba told ramalinga iyer that he had left shirdi because he had no wish to give any further teachings. in 1845, baba moved to the village of banashankari and established a new ashram. he lived in this house for the next six years, living a completely monastic life. he was always in a state of samadhi (meditative state of mind) and would speak only in verse. d8a7b2ff72

om sai ram this is my first time commenting on sai baba information center. it is a great platform to get to know more about baba. the answers by baba are from his true self. i have been reading baba's pastimes since the 70's. i am not religious, but became a baba devotee when i was working in an oil refinery. after 30 years of experience in the industry, i had realized that people there did not have a positive spiritual life because of their negativity in real life. i moved to chandivali in mumbai and while going to naini mata temple, i met baba on my way. then it all started. i knew baba's presence was with me because i could feel it.
this is extremely helpful and very meaningful stuff for the devotees. baba is god/goddess. everything is manifestation of his/her power and grace and i get confused sometimes. sai baba is not limited to anything, he is everywhere and everywhere exists. i am very happy for this work. sai baba is all around.
i am very happy to learn and listen to sai baba's life story. even if he was not lord krishna's god brother and pranam to kans, he is god and god is avanti and guru for everyone. now, i am trying to learn from his life and get more from him and he will teach me and make me purushottama.
sai baba's answers are the key to our salvation. they make us live and love life. really this is a wonderful mission of this site to expose baba's answers and comments on various topics which is limited to our human intellect and knowledge. baba isnot a teacher, he is a guru and a guru is not a guru. he teaches us to know and understand this universe in a simple way with minimum knowledge and we get lost at the start. its like a dream but baba's dream is living like a child that is available everywhere and he teaches us to live as a child and he is enjoying doing so that is why he is very happy.
