for a game to be successful it needs to make sense. thats the easiest way to describe it. but for something that was a launch title on a console that was meant to be the new must have console, it needed to be able to make sense and work. the problem was that mirrors edge was made to be a game that was different than any other game. when i first played it it seemed too over the top and i wanted to skip it. but when it went into free running it quickly changed that.
the story for mirrors edge was one of the main reasons i purchased the game. i was looking for a story that had the same feeling as the first game, and mirrors edge delivered on that. the story in mirrors edge is really exciting and it makes you want to know what happens next. the characters are interesting, and they did a really good job of developing them and showing their emotions through facial expressions and the way they spoke. the story was a bit over the top at times, but it was a fun game.
for some reason, driving in mirrors edge was way more fun than running. i had to take a long break from mirror's edge at times just because i was having so much fun in the driver mode. this was especially true for the first half of the game, as the driver mode was the only thing i had to worry about. you werent fighting anyone, you werent hacking billboards, you werent climbing skyscrapers, and you werent fighting your way through hordes of guards. this was just you and a set of instruments, and that was very enjoyable.
while you can hack billboards in the first two games, the billboard hacking is a bit more challenging in mirrors edge. in the first game, you could hack the billboards by hitting a special button when you had the right directional, and the right angle. in mirrors edge, you have to climb up a special billboard, use the levers on the sides to flip the billboard to the correct angle, and then hit the button to hack the billboard. to successfully hack a billboard, you have to jump and hit the lever, then you must jump again to climb the billboard and hit the button. if you dont do this correctly, you will have to start the hacking sequence all over again. while this is a bit more difficult than the other two games, it is a bit more fun too.
