i'm gonna put this here for the record. oh yes, i know it's not a song. it's a cover. it's a great cover. i love it. the beauty of a cover is that you can find a song that may have been sung in a way you like and take it out of its original context and play it in a different way. this is a song that got made fun of. the original vandellas were called martha and the vandellas. martha reeves was a member of the group, which was later called the vandellas. in the re-working of the song it's a duet between martha and the marvelettes, with martha singing the verses and the marvelettes singing the choruses. in the original it was martha singing the first verse and the marvelettes singing the second verse and then martha singing the second verse and the marvelettes singing the third and so on. and there was a rather aggressive swing backing group, called the crusaders, who came in the middle and played a trumpet and two saxes. listen, this is a great song. i know it isn't a real song, but it's a great version of it. thank you for listening. i've always liked this song. it's not a very well-known song. it wasn't a big hit. it's just a great song. when i first heard it, i loved it. it's a great song. hound dog the hound dog is a great song. there's a song by the animals, and it's a great song. i've always thought that their version was the best one. i like the eddie cochran version, as well. there's a country version of it. there's a rock version. i don't like the one by the beatles. i don't like their cover. i like this one. i always thought that this was the best version of this song. i think it's the best cover. i don't think i've ever heard anyone cover this song. i like this version. it's got a great riff. and the way that the guitarist is playing in the background, that's great. i don't know who the artist is, but i like the song. many rivers to cross i always liked this song. i've never heard this version. i've never heard anyone else sing this song. i like it. it's got a great song. it's got a great singer. it's got a great band. it's got a great guitar player. i like this version better than the original. this is a great song. this is another song that i've never heard anyone sing before. i've never heard anyone else sing it. this is a good version of it. i like the way that the guitarist is playing in the background. i like the way the vocalists are singing. i love this version. ooh child i like this song. i have heard this version before. it's got a great opening. it's got a great vocalist. it's got a great drummer. i don't know who these singers are. i don't know who this band is. i don't know what the song is. i just like this version. d8a7b2ff72

in 1965, the then 21 year old reeves was inspired by a live performance of the song by aretha franklin. she approached president of motown, berry gordons office and persuaded him that aretha should be in the recording studio to record a cover version of the song, and so in the very same year aretha recorded it, martha & the vandellas covered it a few months later. aretha heard martha singing of the track and liked it so much that she included martha on her aretha franklin presents golden soul classics album.
the marthas performance of dancing in the street is the clear highlight of the song, bringing added dimension to the proceedings. it was clearly a vital component of her character, and she still displays it occasionally.
every step, every breath, and every smile martha reeves offers in dancing in the street is pure joy. you just know that the song is the highlight of the evening, and the way she interprets this song is truly joyous and joyful. her attitude and delivery always seemed to convey the same thing; that she was happy to be singing. the vandellas would use martha reeves voice as the focal point of the group. their signature songs were all fantastic in a fun and energetic way.
the list of marthas accomplishments is as long as her life. after the vandellas, she formed martha and the vandellas in 1968, but they didnt achieve the success that she was used to. for the next three decades, she had a very successful solo career, and even managed to return to the top of the charts. in 1989, she was a fixture at the motown 50th anniversary concert, which was the biggest event for motown in years. she sang heat wave, nowhere to run, the happening and more. in 1992, she starred in the movie version of heat wave; the very one that the motown brass were so upset about.
